Adoption Process
Please note that we are one of less than 10 ethical breeders in the United States and we have an extensive adoption process. We pour our blood sweat and tears into our hobby, and we don't even come close to breaking even. In order to mitigate some of the cost we charge a total of $50 for a hamster pup and $25 for a breeder contract ham. Each hamster comes with a birth certificate along with lab blocks, a variety of toys and some seed snack mix. If you adopt a retired hamster, or hamster sit for us or our babies, we will waive the adoption fee.
In order to get on the waiting list a $10 non-refundable deposit is required. We will collect the balance upon pick-up.
***We are associated with other ethical breeders such as Poppy Bee Hamstery in Clifton, VA and Misty Beach Hamstery in Herndon, VA. We ask that you only apply to one hamstery. Please note that you will not receive a refund in the event that you obtain a hamster from Poppy Bee's or Misty Beach's while on our waiting list.

How to Adopt from Pearl Hamletry
Review the ethical standards for enclosures and accessories outlined below.
1) Fill out our application.
2) Gather the supplies and set your cage up! Please see our Care Guide for ethical enclosure, accessories, bedding, food and etc.
3) Email us a picture of you with your ethical enclosure, accessories and travel carrier.
4) Mail us a check or money order in the amount of $10. We will provide you with the mailing address once you have submitted your application.
5) Wait for us to email you that a hamster has become available. The wait is typically between 3-12 weeks.
6) If applicable, we will email you pictures, or a video in order to be able to virtually choose a pup from a litter. Please note that there may not always be multiple hamsters to choose from, but if you are up on the list and choose to pass you can hold your place for the next available hamster or litter.
7) Once you have picked out your hamster, we will schedule a no contact pick-up. This involves you bringing a travel carrier and placing it on my porch. I will then take the carrier inside, put your hamster in the carrier and place them back outside for you to pick up immediately.
***Please note that we no longer allow folx to pick their hamsters in-person or visit the hamstery. The Covid-19 virus and variants are endemic to hamsters and not worth the risk to the humans that share air within this space.
